Peg Loom Weaving
March 3 @ 10:30 am - 3:00 pm£28 – £35
Peg Loom Weaving at Tortworth Forest Centre
Try out this very special weaving method in the woods with Bec, who will teach us how to use a peg loom using natural materials.
Peg loom weaving is easy to learn, and together we will make warm rugs or tuffets that will connect us to a long tradition dating back thousands of years. Its simplicity is part of its beauty – each person will bring their own style to the tradition and make something unique.
We use high welfare wool from the wonderful Caroline at Natural Raw Sheep Fleece, and by using this wool we ensure that the sheep are well looked after into their old age.
Please bring a packed lunch with you, we will light the fire and provide tea coffee and biscuits throughout the day. You will be able to work sitting down or standing up depending on what feels more comfortable for you.
There will be plenty of time to explore the incredible trees of the arboretum and if time allows at the end, we can take a walk around the woodland to learn about the woodland restoration project.
Note that the event will be outside all day – we have a shelter but you will need to bring warm clothes.
This event is open to all genders aged 14 and up. Under 16’s must be accompanied by an adult.
