If you don’t mind doing without luxuries, welcome to our shabby woodland caravan, with a touch of rustic woodland chic. Come and stay in a wild and stunning overgrown arboretum full of exotic trees.
This is back to basics accommodation – there is no running water, no electricity and the compost toilet is down the hill. But waking up to the smell of the wood burner crackling as the sunshine streams through the redwoods is a unique experience you will not find anywhere else.
Not for the squeamish or those afraid of wildlife!
The arboretum is a private self-contained 20-acre woodland next door to the Tortworth Court Hotel. You can use the communal outdoor fire area and help yourself to firewood, the kettle and seating. Or you can cosy up in the caravan with the wood burner on while you watch out for signs of robins, wrens, tree creepers and if you are lucky, deer.
The woodland is not far from the M5 which is amazing for access but it does mean there is some motorway noise. There is a fantastic hotel based in the Manor next door if you chicken out and want some home comforts!
The caravan is old and basic; please do not expect glamping, as you will have to bring your own water, there is no bathroom and the lighting is a very basic fairy light system. You will be warm and comfortable but this is not for people who don’t want a little adventure and to leave with woodsmoke infused hair!
